Job Title:  Senior Accountant
Reports To: Director of Finance

SUMMARY
We are seeking an accountant who is analytical, mission drive, and thrives in a team environment.  The Senior Accountant will work closely with other finance team members to produce timely and accurate financial statements and analyses to support the organization. This a unique learning opportunity, as there is a mix of nonprofit and for-profit accounting in a multi-entity organization.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Responsible for month-end close process by producing relevant journal entries, reviewing and investigating anomalies, performing P&L variance analysis and preparing month-end accruals
  • Post intercompany journal entries and perform multi-entity consolidations
  • Assist with government grant billings and compliance management
  • Prepare and review monthly reporting packages and provide detailed financial insights
  • Develop and maintain financial models in Excel as requested
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes and minimize inefficiencies
  • Participate in the financial audit and preparation of required audit support schedules
  • Assists in the management of the credit card program
  • Maintain overall accuracy and integrity of the general ledger, and ensure financial statements are in compliance with US GAAP and organization policies
  • Participate in cross training of other roles and responsibilities across the accounting team
  • Develop ad-hoc reports and analysis for cross-functional teams and management as requested
QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with government grants is a plus

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
  • BA/BS degree in Accounting or Finance. Master’s Degree or CPA preferred.
  • 4 or more years of accounting experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel
  • Experience with Quickbooks a plus

Compensation
$80,000-$120,000
Salary to be negotiated depending on qualifications and depth of experience. This is a full-time exempt position offering a comprehensive benefits package that includes health, dental, vision, life and retirement account. This position also includes generous paid time off package covering sick, vacation, and 16 paid holidays.

This position operates in a office setting, where the use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, scanners, and printers is essential. This position is primarily desk-based, employees are regularly required to sit for extended periods, frequent use of hands and fingers for typing, occasionally required to stand, walk, and lift objects weighing up to 10 pounds, such as file folders or office supplies. Visual acuity is necessary for reading detailed invoices.
